Salgono a 16 le grandi attrazioni in gara: Cina, Spagna, Francia e Cile

Di seguito il calendario degli spettacoli: Giovedì 15 Ottobre ore 21 (spettacolo A); Venerdì 16 Ottobre ore 21 (spettacolo B); Sabato 17 Ottobre ore 16.30 (spettacolo B) e ore 21.00 (spettacolo A); Domenica 18 Ottobre ore 15.30 (spettacolo A) e ore 19.00 (spettacolo B); Lunedì 19 Ottobre ore 20.30, Spettacolo di Gala e premiazione dei vincitori.

Gli spettacoli denominati A e B, pur essendo diversi, sono di identico ed elevatissimo livello dal punto di vista artistico e corrispondono esclusivamente alla ripartizione degli artisti in gara in due gruppi.

La contea di Sheyang è un’area della Cina situata nella provincia di Jiangsu sulla costa orientale del Paese. La troupe acrobatica di Sheyang, forte di una consistente esperienza di spettacolo, ha allestito per il Festival di Latina un numero del tutto inedito: la performance acrobatica della troupe, nel rappresentare i canoni più tipici dell’antica scuola circense cinese, si propone di fornirne una lettura innovativa ed al passo con i tempi; oltre l’azione in sé, il numero intende sollecitare lo spettatore nella sua opportunità di vedere, ascoltare, percepire… un’esperienza emotiva e sensoriale al tempo stesso, la cui sceneggiatura consente il riconoscimento di tre sezioni: la terra bruciata, il combattimento, la rinascita. Top of the head è la denominazione del passaggio cruciale dell’allestimento. Dal 2008 l’acrobatica cinese di Jiangsu è considerata patrimonio culturale immateriale del Paese.

Miguel Álvarez Papadopaulos, nato in Spagna nel 2003, è un giovane ed eclettico giocoliere: appartiene alla nona generazione artistica della famiglia Álvarez ed alla quinta della famiglia Papadopaulos; si tratta di due importanti famiglie del circo spagnolo. Miguel ha avviato la sua carriera artistica con suo cugino Agustin; al loro attivo numerose partecipazioni e premi conseguiti in diversi contesti internazionali: già nel 2019, ad Ekaterimburgo, i due giovani talenti conquistarono l’Argento; stesso esito fu registrato l’anno successivo ad Albacete nella categoria Junior del locale Festival Internazionale del Circo. Il debutto di Miguel come giocoliere solista è recente: in pochi mesi, tuttavia, Miguel ha già lavorato per importanti produzioni quali Circus 1882 in Spagna, The Magical World of Circus in Belgio e nei Paesi Bassi, e il Groot Kerstcircus Den Haag, nei Paesi Bassi, durante il periodo natalizio. Miguel Alvarez nel 2024 partecipò come ospite fuori concorso alla terza edizione dell’Italian Circus Talent Festival svoltasi a Latina.

Artista ventiquattrenne francese, Satya Apert De Sela ha intrapreso la sua formazione come acrobata aereo solista nel 2021. Da un paio d’anni Satya vive a Montréal in Canada; dopo essersi perfezionato grazie alla guida del Maestro Victor Fomin, Satya ha preso a lavorare ed a esibirsi appena lo scorso anno. Ama i grandi spazi: “più grande è l’arena e migliore sarà la mia performance” ha dichiarato Satya ai nostri uffici. È per questa sua preferenza che Satya ha lavorato con successo come acrobata solista aereo in occasione di spettacoli di pattinaggio sul ghiaccio tra i quali il noto show svizzero Art on Ice. La performance che Satya Apert De Sela presenta al Festival di Latina ha un titolo: Dal Nadir allo Zenit; la metafora di matrice astronomica allude alla volontà di descrivere un percorso completo di rinascita o di elevazione, indicando il passaggio dal punto più basso, buio o profondo (il nadir) a quello più alto, luminoso e di massimo successo (lo zenit).

Nell’immaginario collettivo, quella dei volanti è certamente la disciplina che in modo più efficace evoca le atmosfere più tipiche del Circo: sebbene nella Storia dello spettacolo il trapezio sia stato poi declinato nelle sue più varie accezioni, i numeri delle grandi troupe di artisti volanti tuttora entusiasmano fortemente il pubblico di ogni età; è certamente il caso dei 15 spericolati acrobati cileni che partecipano al Festival come The Flying Gonzalez. 12 volanti e 3 porteur sono simultaneamente impegnati nella realizzazione di acrobazie di elevata difficoltà a grande altezza nel gigantesco allestimento del trapezio volante triplo. La compagine Sud-americana risulta dal sodalizio stabilito nel 2023 con l’obiettivo di realizzare la più grande troupe di trapezisti della Storia del Circo. The Flying Gonzalez, nel praticare acrobazie di rara complessità, assegnano alla loro esibizione quei tratti di solarità e di musicalità che sono così peculiari della cultura del Sud-America.

Show calendar: Thursday, October 15th, 9pm (show A); Friday, October 16th, 9pm (show B); Saturday, October 17th, 4.30pm (show B) and 9pm (show A); Sunday, October 18th, 3.30pm (show A) and 7pm (show B); Monday, October 19th, 8.30pm – Gala Show and Awards Ceremony. Shows A and B, whilst containing different acts, are of the same high professional and artistic level, and simply reflect a necessary division of numerous competing numbers into two separate shows.

The county of Sheyang is an area in China situated in the province of Jiangsu, on the eastern coast of the country. The Sheyang Troupe, with long experience in live performance, has created a new number to present at the Festival in Latina. This acrobatic performance by the troupe, while representing the typical principles of traditional Chinese circus, seeks to add a fresh and innovative interpretation, bringing it right up to date, eliciting a reaction from the audience to see, listen, and reflect in an emotional and sensorial way. The scenery depicts three sections: burnt earth, the struggle, the rebirth. Top of the Head is the name of the key part of this performance. The Chinese acrobatics of Jiangsu have been recognised as intangible cultural heritage of China since 2008.

Miguel Álvarez Papadopaulos, born in Spain in 2003, is a young and versatile juggler: he represents the ninth artistic generation of the Álvarez family and the fifth generation of the Papadopaulos family: two of Spain’s most important circus families. Miguel began his artistic career working with his cousin Agustin; they have taken part in numerous international events, winning awards along the way. In Ekaterinburg in 2019, these two young talents won a silver award; they also won a similar award the following year at Albacete in the Junior category of the International Circus Festival. Miguel’s début as a soloist is recent: in just a few months he has worked in important productions such as Circus 1882 in Spain, The Magical World of Circus in Belgium and the Netherlands, and the Groot Kerstcircus Den Haag in the Netherlands during the Christmas season. In 2024 he took part as a non-competing performer in the third edition of the Italian Circus Talent Festival, which took place at Latina.

Satya Apert De Sela is a 24-year-old performer from France; he began his training as a solo aerial acrobat in 2021. Satya has been based in Montreal, Canada, for a couple of years and, under the guidance of Maestro Victor Fomin, he only started performing last year. He loves big spaces: “the bigger the space, the better I perform”, he told us. This preference saw him work with great success as a solo aerial acrobat within ice skating performances, including in the well-known Swiss show Art on Ice. The number that Satya Apert De Sela is bringing to the Festival at Latina is entitled Nadir a Zénith: the astronomical metaphor alludes to the desire to complete a journey upwards towards rebirth, from the darkest depths to the brightest, magnificent heights (the zenith).

In the collective imagination, the flying trapeze is the discipline that best evokes the atmosphere of the traditional Circus. Even though this type of number has seen many variations, this classic act involving big troupes of trapeze performers is always well received by audiences of all ages, as will this troupe of 15 daring Chilean acrobats, who are competing in the Festival as The Flying Gonzalez. 12 flyers and 3 catchers are simultaneously involved in flying acrobatics of great difficulty at dizzying heights in the gigantic setup for the triple flying trapeze. This South-American troupe was formed in 2023 with the aim of creating the largest trapeze troupe in the history of the Circus. The Flying Gonzalez, while performing detailed and difficult acrobatics, also bring the exuberant verve and musicality that typifies South-American culture.
